Did you get a big payout on the Vaccine trade over the past year? If you had invested in one of the smaller companies with a successful vaccine product, you would have seen triple-digit growth, as with the stocks of Novavax, Moderna, and Biontech.
However, these gains can be pretty volatile and depend critically upon the company receiving approval for the vaccine. On the other end of the spectrum are the large, established companies like Johnson & Johnson and Pfizer which had great vaccine outcomes but their stocks did not seem to benefit from their Covid wins (they actually performed lower than the overall markets).
In these cases, the addition of a very successful product to a large portfolio of existing products did not make (or break) the overall company stock fortunes. Overall, with vaccine efforts well underway in much of the world, the opportunity for the vaccine trade might have passed.
