Looks like living the Jetsons life might happen sooner rather than later. Just this year, a record amount of investment $3.8B has gone into Air Taxi start-ups! The investments have been through SPAC special purpose acquisition vehicles or blank check companies, as well as via private investment in public equity, i.e. PIPE deals.

And add a new word to the lexicon – eVTOL electric vertical-takeoff-and-landing vehicle. Electric taxi developer Archer is expected to build a 4 person electric vehicle that can fly 60 miles over congested areas. The airlines are getting into the act with United Airlines announcing that they have placed $1B in orders with Archer.
